Our Rich History
From humble beginnings in 1901 with a total pupil count of 27 to what is now a magnificent 33 000 m2 campus serving 345 learners, Kronendal Primary School has come a very long way in its 100+ year history.
From 1901 to 1911, the school was on a farm in Hout Bay called “Oakhurst Farm”, however the farm was too far away from the village, so it was decided in 1911 to move the school to another farm called “Dinan”.
By 1917 the total enrollment of the school had grown to 66 pupils and steps were taken in 1918 to erect a new school building, this being the start of the current campus found on Andrews Road, in Scott Estate.
This new location was ideal being in the heart of Hout Bay Village, and in 1919 with three classrooms it could accommodate a total of 120 pupils. Over time the school was added to and improved with many more facilities, fields and classrooms.
A number of large capital projects were completed between 1995 and 1998, including the addition of a 25m swimming pool, floodlit sports fields, and a concrete pavilion.
Since the late 90s the school has continued to re-invest in its grounds, facilities and teachers for the benefit of its learners.
